What is the Scouts BSA Program?

The traditional Scouting program, Scouts BSA is where youth develop outdoor survival skills, self-confidence, and ethics through youth planned activities with increased attention to service, community engagement, and leadership.

What Will I Do in Scouts BSA?

Scouts BSA is where youth explore their interests and develop skills by participating in outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and canoeing. Scouts earn merit badges along the journey and work towards achieving Scouting’s highest rank—Eagle Scout.

Who Runs Scouts BSA?

Elected youth lead their troop and run the meetings at the guidance of the Scoutmaster and other adult leaders. Unlike Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA is a youth program planned mainly by the Scouts, not the parents.

Why Should I Join Scouts BSA?

Scouts BSA prepares youth to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Throughout their time in Scouting, Scouts learn the value of hard work and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off.

Join us for a Meeting!

Our Troop meetings are held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. most every Thursday from September through June. During June and July, our schedule is lighter due to BSA summer camp and family vacations. See our upcoming events here

The last Thursday of the month the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meeting is held for 30 mins after the meeting, when the elected-youth plan content for the next month. Both regular Troop meetings and PLC meetings are held at the Religious Education Building located at Santa Rosa De Lima Parish.

Visitors are always welcome! We'd love for you to stop by and see the troop in action.

Financial Aid and Uniform Support

Scouting is for everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. To ensure that financial barriers don't prevent young people from experiencing the benefits of Scouting, there are scholarships available for registration fees and council camps. To make sure all Scouts feel confident and part of the group, Troop 1096 operates a uniform closet. The closet provides gently used uniforms at a low cost to Scouts who need them.

Additional Fees:

Scouts and adults pay for the food purchased for camp-outs and direct costs for activities.
